The luminous Meryl Streep is this film’s true center, as her three on-screen loves can attest. Streep plays Donna, a single mom who owns an inn on a Greek isle. Her daughter is lovely, but Meryl steals the show from start to finish. The Abba music works, and Meryl’s two women pals (played by Julie Waters and Christine Baranski) are great foils for Streep’s performance. A fun movie in a lovely setting. And the sequel is alright, with a fun appearance by Cher.
